'Charlie's Angels' Sweater
This is a free pattern with purchase of the accompanying wool. Please only select 'buy now' if you have also added the relevant wool to your knitting basket.
The 1970’s were a decade like no other, packed with excitement and innovation. We had Abbamania, Rolf Harris and his Stylaphone, chopper bikes, platform shoes and Hai Karate aftershave. I spent the decade idolising Farrah Fawcett from the hit TV show, Charlies Angel’s, my mum spent the time making me mohair sweaters, they were real groovy.
I will certainly be wearing this sweater when it gets a little cooler. You may find me bopping around the shop to the sound of Abba, Fleetwood Mac or the Bee Gees.
My new design features ‘dolman sleeves’, which some of you may know as ‘bat wing’ sleeves (Dolman sounds way more sophisticated!).
- Size: 81 (86, 91, 97, 102) cm – 32 (34, 36, 38, 40) ins. Length from neck to waistband 56, (57, 57, 59,59) cm- 22 (22.5, 22.5, 23.5, 23.5) ins. Due to the dolman sleeve style of this sweater it is not possible to give a chest measurement. I have found the bust measurement is an accurate way of choosing which size to knit. For example, I measure 34 inches so would knit the second size. If I wished my finished garment to be on the larger size I would knit the 36 inch garment.
- Yarn: 8 (8, 9,9,10) balls of Indiecita Baby Brushed Alpaca
OR 4 (4, 5, 5, 5) hanks of Touch Yarns 'Alpine' 12ply
- Needles: A pair of 4.5 mm needles and 5.5 mm needles. The 5.5 mm needle needs to be at least 33 cm long to accommodate the large number of stitches. If you feel more comfortable using a 80cm 5.5mm circular needle (knitting backwards and forwards) then please do. Two double ended stitch holders. Sewing up needle.
- Sample Colour: Deep Red (Baby Brushed Alpaca SH 620)
