'Dayana' Summer Baby Blanket Knitting Pattern
A Summer Baby blanket also needs wrapping in handmade love. This beautiful blanket would be a wonderful gift for an expectant mom struggling through our Summer heat.
Ladies frequently come into the store and open the conversation with: "I haven't knitted for 30 years. I am going to be a Grandma. I want to knit for my new grandchild but I'm nervous of tackling anything complicated."
Here's why this baby blanket is the perfect project for the new, nervous, or lapsed knitter:
- Simple Design: Using only the two basic stitches of knit and purl, it's easy to create.
- Luxurious Yarn: Crafted from the most glorious alpaca yarn, this blanket is perfect for a very special baby.
To get started, gather the following materials:
- Yarn: 3 balls of Chaska Takama Organic Cotton and dye-free Alpaca. This blend is ideal for a Summer-weight blanket. For Winter, consider our Baby Alpaca yarn.
- Needles: Opt for 4mm needles, or if you knit slightly on the loose side, try 3.75mm needles.
- Sewing Needle: You'll also need a big-eyed sewing needle for securing yarn ends.
Once completed, the blanket measures approximately 75 cm long and 55 cm wide, perfect for a bassinet or baby car seat. Our sample color, 'Pedro,' adds warmth and charm to any nursery.
