Sophie Scarf Knit Kit
Sophie Scarf Knit Kit
Knit PetiteKnit’s beautifully simple Sophie Scarf in soft, lightweight Sesia Alaska 8ply. Worked from tip to tip in garter stitch with neat built-in i-cord edges, this is an approachable project for newer knitters and a satisfying quick knit for more experienced makers.
Why You’ll Love This Knit Kit
- Simple one-piece construction with no sewing up.
- Two useful sizes: a shorter scarf that wraps once and a longer scarf that wraps twice.
- One 200-metre ball of luxurious Italian-made Sesia Alaska is supplied for either size.
- Choose a kit with or without the required circular needle.
About the Pattern
The Sophie Scarf is worked flat, back and forth in one piece from tip to tip. Increases shape the first half and decreases mirror them through the second half. The garter-stitch fabric is finished as you knit with built-in i-cord edges.
Skill Level
Beginner. You will work knit stitches, knit-front-and-back increases, simple decreases and slipped i-cord edge stitches.

How This Differs from the Original Pattern Yarn
The PetiteKnit pattern lists several cashmere yarn options. The single-strand options require approximately 90–92 metres for the small scarf and 126–129 metres for the large scarf. Compatible Cashmere by Knitting for Olive is used with two strands held together and requires approximately 187 (262) metres in total. This kit substitutes Sesia Alaska and is worked with one strand.
Sesia Alaska has a different fibre blend and yarn-label row gauge from the original cashmere options. Make, wash and dry a tension square before starting, and change needle size if required to match the pattern tension.

Before You Cast On
Choose your scarf size, then swatch with one strand of Sesia Alaska. Both stitch and row tension affect the finished dimensions, so use the needle size that gives the required 22 stitches and 42 rows per 10 cm rather than relying only on the yarn-label recommendation.
