A smart children's sweater with a textured centre panel, available in DK/8ply or Aran/10ply. The pattern covers ages two to eight years and is worked flat in separate pieces with a neat picked-up neckband.

Yarn requirements
Work with one strand. The DK version uses Naturally Loyal DK/8ply at 105 m per 50 g. Loyal Aran/10ply is the original heavier yarn at 84 m per 50 g (discontinued).

Construction and skill level
The back, front and sleeves are knitted flat separately. The centre panel is worked as part of each body piece, the neckband is picked up after one shoulder is joined, and all seams are finished with mattress stitch. Best for an intermediate knitter comfortable following a textured stitch pattern, shaping and seaming.
Needles, notions and gauge
- DK/8ply: 3.25 mm and 3.75 mm straight needles; 22 stitches and 30 rows to 10 cm in stocking stitch on 3.75 mm needles
- Aran/10ply: 4 mm and 4.5 mm straight needles; 20 stitches and 26 rows to 10 cm in stocking stitch on 4.5 mm needles
