A practical children's sweater with a textured upper body and buttoned front-neck opening. The pattern includes separate instructions for DK/8ply and Aran/10ply, giving you a choice of two fabric weights for ages two to eight years.

Yarn requirements
Work with one strand. The DK version uses Naturally Loyal DK/8ply at 105 m per 50 g ball. Loyal 10ply is the original yarn for the heavier version at 84 m per 50 g ball (discontinued).

Construction and skill level
The back, front and sleeves are knitted flat separately. The front divides to form the opening; the neck and button bands are picked up after the shoulders are joined, then the sleeves and side seams are completed. This is an intermediate project with texture, shaping, buttonholes and seaming.
Needles, notions and gauge
- DK/8ply: 3.25 mm and 4 mm straight needles; 22 stitches and 30 rows to 10 cm in stocking stitch on 4 mm needles
- Aran/10ply: 4 mm and 4.5 mm straight needles; 20 stitches and 26 rows to 10 cm in stocking stitch on 4.5 mm needles
