Field of Flowers Sweater – Naturally K3007
A colourful 8ply sweater with a flower-patterned yoke and coordinating colourwork at the hem and cuffs. Designed for children from 6 months to 6 years, it makes a lovely project for knitters who enjoy stranded colourwork.
Construction and pattern facts
The body and sleeves are knitted separately in the round from the bottom up, then joined for the circular yoke. Finish by sewing the small underarm openings and weaving in ends. Use one strand for plain sections; carry the chart colours separately for stranded colourwork, without holding them together.

Yarn requirements
Use three colours of Loyal 8ply. Loyal is the approved replacement for discontinued Vegas Tweed in the main colour and first contrast colour; it is also the original second contrast yarn. These estimated equivalent-metre allowances use the original quantities at 105 m per 50 g for both ranges. Loyal has the same metreage per 50 g. Quantities remain approximate and depend on your tension.

Gauge
22 stitches × 26 rows over stocking stitch on 4.00 mm needles = 10 × 10 cm. Loyal’s label row gauge differs from the pattern. Wash and block your swatch and check both stitch and row gauge, including your colourwork tension.
Needles and notions
- 3.25 mm and 4.00 mm circular needles with a 60 cm cord.
- 3.25 mm and 4.00 mm double-pointed needles, or suitable longer circular needles for magic loop.
- Two stitch markers, two stitch holders or waste yarn, and a tapestry needle.
Skill guidance and pattern corrections
Intermediate: knitting in the round, following colourwork charts, managing floats, shaping and joining sleeves into a yoke. The supplier has published corrections to K3007’s yoke instructions and stitch counts. Read the official K3007 corrections alongside your leaflet before knitting the yoke, particularly for the larger sizes.
