Garter Slipped Stitch Pram Blanket Knitting Pattern – K3089

A two-colour blanket with a textured slipped-stitch centre and garter stitch borders, designed in AMANO Duna 4ply. Naturally K3089 makes a blanket approximately 80 × 90 cm after blocking. The sample uses main colour 2620 and contrast colour 2619.

Construction and skills

Worked flat in one piece on a circular needle. The lower garter border leads into an eight-row slipped-stitch pattern, with garter side borders worked as you go and a garter border to finish. A separate main-colour bobbin supplies one side border when the centre is worked in the contrast colour.

Suggested skill level: intermediate. Techniques include garter stitch, slipping stitches purlwise with yarn held in front or behind, colour changes, simple intarsia at the borders and wet blocking. The stitch pattern is written out row by row.

Finished size

Approximately 80 × 90 cm after wet blocking. The pattern works the blanket to 85 cm before adding the final garter stitch border.

Yarn requirements

Use AMANO Duna 4ply, worked with a single strand. Approximate allowances are calculated at 200 m per 50 g.

Finished size (cm) Main colour (m) Contrast colour (m)
80 × 90 600 600

Total allowance: 1200 m across the two colours.

Tension

25 stitches and 40 rows over 10 cm on 3.25 mm needles. The PDF does not name the stitch used for this tension measurement. Swatch the blanket fabric, wash and dry it before measuring, and adjust needle size to achieve tension.

Needles and notions

  • 3.25 mm circular needle with an 80 cm cord, used to work back and forth.
  • 1 yarn bobbin for the garter stitch side border.
  • Tapestry needle for finishing.

Finishing

Wet blocking is required to open and shape this stitch combination. Follow the PDF's blocking instructions and lay the blanket flat to dry to its finished measurements.

Which yarn and quantities do I need?
