Gansey Love Pram Accessories – Naturally K3011
A coordinated 8ply collection with a hood, scarf, booties and a textured blanket. Knit-and-purl motifs and moss-stitch edges give these little accessories their traditional Gansey character.
Construction and pattern facts
All pieces are worked flat. The hood has a shaped crown and picked-up edging with a button fastening. The booties have separate sock tops joined to the foot sections and sewn back seams. The scarf includes an opening worked by separating and rejoining stitches. The blanket is worked in one piece with a charted knit-and-purl centre and moss-stitch borders. Use one strand at a time; the contrast colour is worked separately.

Finished hood circumference and bootie foot length are not stated. The leaflet gives the same yarn allowance for the accessories in both age sizes.
Yarn requirements
The original recommended yarn is Naturally Magic Garden Classic DK/8ply, with 138 m per 50 g. This discontinued range has limited remaining shop stock; check that your chosen shade has enough yarn for the whole project before starting. The hood, scarf and booties share one allowance; the blanket has a separate allowance. No individual accessory amounts are supplied.

Gauge
22 stitches × 32 rows over stocking stitch on 4.00 mm needles = 10 × 10 cm. Check a washed and blocked swatch; this row gauge differs from the yarn label.
Needles and notions
- 3.25 mm, 3.75 mm and 4.00 mm needles, as used for the different pieces.
- One stitch holder and two locking stitch markers or safety pins.
- One button for the hood and a tapestry needle.
Skill guidance
Intermediate: knit-and-purl charts, moss stitch, shaping, picking up stitches and joining the bootie sections. Read the graph directions carefully and gently block the blanket to its finished dimensions.
Frequently asked questions
Are the Gansey motifs colourwork?
No. The hood and blanket motifs are made with knit and purl stitches. A separate contrast shade is used elsewhere in the accessories.
Does the accessory yarn allowance include the blanket?
No. The blanket requires its own 690 m allowance in the main colour, in addition to the hood, scarf and booties quantities.
