Gauge, needles and materials
Gauge: 18 stitches × 26 rows in stocking stitch on 4 mm needles = 10 × 10 cm.
Needles: 4 mm circulars: 40, 60 and 80 and/or 100 cm; 3 mm circulars: 60 and 80 cm; 3 mm and 4 mm double-pointed needles.
Designer difficulty: 3 out of 5.
Wild & Woolly yarn option
Use Sandnes Garn Double Sunday (8ply), knitted with one strand. This is our shop alternative rather than the designer’s original yarn.

Equivalent-metre planning estimates: the designer’s stated quantity for each size is converted at 108 m per 50 g, then matched metre for metre to Double Sunday, which also has 108 m per 50 g. These are not confirmed designer consumption figures for this substitute. Allow extra for swatching and any added length.
Wash and block your swatch before measuring. Aim for 18 stitches × 26 rows per 10 × 10 cm, starting with the suggested 4 mm needles and adjusting as needed. Check the fabric’s drape as well as gauge; matching metreage alone does not guarantee the same result.
Frequently asked questions
How is the V-neck finished?
Stitches are picked up around the opening for a double rib edge, with decreases at the front to keep the V defined.
Will Hannah V-Neck have the same width as Round Neck?
Not in every size. For example, V-Neck size M is 129 cm around; at a 95 cm bust that gives 34 cm of ease. Use this version’s measurements.
Can I copy the Round Neck yarn table for V-Neck?
Use this V-Neck table. The two designs have different quantities from size L upwards: V-Neck size XL is estimated at 1,404 m, compared with 1,296 m for Round Neck.
