Equivalent-metre planning estimates: each option preserves the designer’s original yarn length, calculated at 100 m per 50 g. Choose only your selected yarn’s column; the equal metre estimates do not mean equal purchase quantities across the ranges. These are not tested consumption figures for the substitute yarns. Round up to complete sale units and allow extra for swatching, changes in length and differences in gauge.
Wash and block a swatch of your chosen yarn and aim for 18 stitches × 28 rows per 10 × 10 cm in stocking stitch. Start with the pattern’s 5 mm needles, adjust as needed and check the fabric and fit before buying the full quantity. Yarn weight alone does not confirm suitability, including for the 12ply option.
Frequently asked questions
Does the stated length include the shoulder straps?
The listed length is measured from the bottom to the top of the bib. The straps are worked afterwards from the back.
Can I use Little Sister’s Romper needles and tension?
No. Little Brother’s Romper uses an 18-stitch gauge and a 5 mm circular, while Little Sister’s Romper uses a finer 26-stitch gauge and a 3 mm circular.
Do I combine Harmony, Inca Spun and New Zealand Merino?
No. They are three separate single-strand options. Select one yarn and use only its metre column. Check the 18-stitch × 28-row gauge even when choosing the thicker 12ply yarn.
