Gauge, needles and materials
Gauge: 23 stitches × 33 rows in stocking stitch on 3.5 mm needles, measured after washing the swatch = 10 × 10 cm.
Needles: 3.5 mm and 2.5 mm circulars: 60, 80 and/or 100 cm; 3.5 mm double-pointed needles, unless using Magic Loop.
Designer difficulty: 4 out of 5.
Recommended shop yarn
Use two strands of Sandnes Garn Tynn Silk Mohair held together. This is our approved stocked alternative for the airy wrap fabric. No separate base yarn is needed.
Estimated total metres by size: the table preserves the length of the designer’s 212 m per 25 g mohair option. Stocked Tynn Silk Mohair also contains 212 m per 25 g, but it is a substitute for the separately named original range, so these remain equivalent-metre planning estimates rather than confirmed test-knit consumption. Each amount is the total yarn for both strands; do not double it again.

Wash and dry a generous swatch before measuring 23 stitches × 33 rows per 10 cm in stocking stitch, checking the drape and growth as well as gauge. The pattern is designed with negative ease, so use the washed fabric to judge fit. Allow extra for swatching, fit adjustments or added length and round up when purchasing.
Frequently asked questions
Is the listed bust measurement half or full circumference?
The table gives the designer’s half-bust measurement. For example, size S is 41 cm across, equivalent to 82 cm around; at an 89 cm bust this gives the intended 7 cm of negative ease.
Why should I wash the gauge swatch before choosing my size?
The designer warns that the recommended fabric can grow with washing and wear. Wash and dry the swatch before measuring the 23-stitch gauge and judging the fitted wrap fabric.
Are the ties sewn on after knitting?
The double-knitted ties are worked at the end and knitted together with picked-up stitches along the slanted front edges.
Do I double the mohair metre amount in the table?
No. Lucy Wrap uses two strands held together, and the table already totals the yarn required for both strands. Buy the stated total for your size, with extra for swatching or alterations.
