Equivalent-metre planning estimates, not tested substitute consumption: all three columns preserve the designer’s original single-yarn allowance calculated at 200 m per 100 g. Use only your chosen yarn’s column. Equal metre estimates do not mean equal purchase quantities across ranges: round up to complete sale units and allow extra for swatching, changes in length and differences in gauge.
Wash and block a generous swatch. Aim for 17 stitches × 25 rows per 10 × 10 cm in stocking stitch, starting with the pattern’s 5 mm needles and adjusting as needed. Check drape, fabric and fit before buying the full project quantity; yarn weight alone does not guarantee the correct gauge.
Frequently asked questions
Is Northland shaped only with raglan increases?
No. The yoke begins with shoulder increases on both right-side and wrong-side rows, continues with sleeve increases and finishes with classic raglan increases.
Which size gives a 106 cm chest about 10 cm of room?
Size L has a finished chest of 116 cm, giving 10 cm of positive ease. Compare actual chest measurements with this edition’s finished measurements before choosing.
Do these shop yarn options need an alpaca or mohair companion?
No. Use Inca Spun, African Expressions Harmony or Amano Warmi as one strand on its own. They replace the complete yarn setup for this shop option; do not combine the three metre columns.
