Converted from the designer’s stated quantities using Sandnes Garn Cashmere: 110 m per 25 g, rounded up to whole metres.
Option 2: Fine DK shop alternatives
Choose Chaska Wara 8ply, Sesia Alaska 8ply or New Zealand Merino 8ply. Use one strand on its own, changing between two colours for the stripes.
Estimated alternative-yarn allowance: use the same dark and light metre requirements in the table above for any one of these alternatives. The estimate preserves the designer’s yarn lengths, calculated from the Sandnes Garn Cashmere quantities at 110 m per 25 g. It is not tested designer consumption for these substitutes. Select one range for both colours.
Current sale-unit lengths are Chaska Wara 150 m per 50 g, Sesia Alaska 200 m per 50 g and New Zealand Merino 138 m per 50 g. Round each colour up to complete sale units and allow extra for swatching or length changes. Wash and block a striped swatch to achieve 23 stitches × 36 rows per 10 × 10 cm; these fibres can change the drape and row gauge.
Wash and block a swatch before measuring. Match stitch and row gauge and check the fabric; adjust needle size as needed. Round up to complete sale units and allow extra for swatching or changes in length.
Frequently asked questions
How does Olga Blouse fit compared with Olga Sweater?
Olga Blouse is closer fitting: size M measures 107 cm around, while Olga Sweater size M measures 118 cm. On a 95 cm bust, the blouse gives 12 cm of room.
Are the two Cashmere colours held together?
No. Work with one strand at a time, changing colours for the stripes. The dark and light columns are separate quantities to buy.
Does every size use equal amounts of both colours?
No. For example, size XS needs 550–660 m in the dark colour and 550 m in the light colour. Use the row for your size rather than dividing a total in half.
Can I knit Olga Blouse in fine DK instead of cashmere?
Yes. Wild & Woolly’s approved single-strand alternatives are Chaska Wara, Sesia Alaska and New Zealand Merino 8ply. Use the estimated per-colour metres above and check a washed and blocked swatch at 23 stitches × 36 rows; the fabric and drape will differ from cashmere.
