Baby Crossover Cardigan, Hat & Booties Knitting Pattern – K3066
A wrap front, raglan shaping and garter stitch edges give this three-piece baby set its character. Naturally K3066 includes the crossover cardigan, a rib-brimmed hat and matching booties, photographed in New Zealand Merino Prints DK/8ply.
Construction and skills
The cardigan is knitted flat from the bottom up in separate pieces, with raglan seams and front bands that continue around the back neck. The hat is knitted flat and seamed at the back. The booties are also worked flat and sewn together.
Suggested skill level: intermediate. Techniques include stocking stitch, garter stitch, ribbing, increases, decreases, buttonholes and seaming.

Frequently asked questions
Does the yarn allowance cover all three pieces?
Yes. The listed yarn quantities are for the crossover cardigan, hat and booties together; the PDF does not divide them into individual project allowances.
Can I use ribbing at the cardigan hem?
Yes. The pattern includes an option to work 12 rows of knit-one, purl-one rib instead of the garter stitch at the beginning of the back and fronts.
Which needles do I need for the hat?
The hat instructions specify 3.25 mm needles for the ribbing, followed by 3.75 mm needles for the main section.
