Jacket, Hat & Bootees Knitting Pattern — Naturally K566
A light 3ply baby set with cable details on the jacket and matching hat, plus little bootees with a tied ankle cord. Choose a flared or straight lower edge for the jacket and hat. Four sizes cover premature babies through to approximately 18 months.
Construction and skill guidance
The jacket is knitted flat in one piece to the underarm, then divided for the fronts and back. The sleeves are knitted separately and set in, with front bands worked as part of the body. The hat is knitted flat and joined with a back seam. The bootees are knitted flat, seamed and finished with a twisted cord through ankle eyelets.
Intermediate: suited to knitters comfortable with cable stitches, shaping, buttonholes, picking up stitches and seaming. Work with one strand of 3ply yarn.

Yarn requirements
The following are approximate original-pattern metre allowances for a single strand of 3ply yarn. They are calculated from the leaflet's 25 g quantities using 119 m per 25 g, equivalent to the supplier's current Classic 3ply specification of 238 m per 50 g. These figures are allowances, rather than measured consumption. The full-set allowance is stated separately in the pattern and is not the sum of the individual allowances.
| Size | Jacket (m) | Hat (m) | Bootees (m) | Full set (m) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Premature | 357 | 119 | 119 | 476 |
| 0–3 months | 476 | 119 | 119 | 595 |
| 6–9 months | 595 | 119 | 119 | 833 |
| 12–18 months | 714 | 238 | 119 | 1071 |
Approved alternative: Crucci Baby Love 3ply, 223 m per 50 g. Use the metre allowances above as equivalent-metre estimates, rather than copying the original yarn's quantities. Work with one strand. Crucci's standard tension differs from this pattern, so check a washed and blocked swatch against 34 stitches and 42 rows to 10 cm and adjust needle size as needed. Allow extra yarn for swatching or changes to the design.
Gauge
34 stitches and 42 rows to 10 cm over stocking stitch using 2.75 mm needles. Adjust needle size if needed to achieve this tension.
Needles and notions

Frequently asked questions
Can I make the jacket with a straight hem?
Yes. The pattern includes both flared and straight lower-edge options for the jacket and hat.
Is the jacket knitted in the round?
No. Its body is worked back and forth in one piece to the underarm, with separate sleeves and seams at finishing.
Does the full-set allowance equal the three individual allowances added together?
No. The leaflet provides a separate full-set allowance, so use that column when making all three pieces together.
