Garter Stitch Jacket & Hat Knitting Pattern – K3083
A button-front garter stitch jacket with grown-on sleeves and a rib-brimmed hat, worked in Opal Wirbelwind 4ply. Naturally K3083 includes five jacket sizes and three hat sizes. The samples use shades 11474 and 11475.
Construction and skills
The jacket begins at the lower back. Stitches are cast on for the sleeves, then the back neck is shaped and each front and sleeve completed separately. A narrow garter stitch neck edge is picked up before sewing the side and sleeve seams. The hat is knitted flat from the brim up and seamed at the back.
Suggested skill level: intermediate. Techniques include garter stitch, ribbing, casting on sleeve stitches, shaping, buttonholes, picking up stitches and seaming. The pattern includes buttonhole placement on either front.
