A relaxed 8ply vest and matching hat, with vest sizes from approximately 3–6 months to 9–10 years.

Construction
The vest front and back are worked flat and joined, with rolled-edge finishing. The hat instructions include seamed and circular options.
Yarn choices
Use DK/8ply yarn, worked with a single strand. Touch Yarns NZ Merino 8ply is a stocked 8ply option to swatch at the pattern tension. Match the metre allowance rather than copying quantities between yarn ranges.

Fit
Allow 5–10 cm of positive ease at the chest, as recommended by the designer.
Metre allowances are approximate. Where the original gives purchasing quantities rather than used metres, these have been converted using its stated yarn length. Swatch, wash and block before starting; allow extra for length changes and differences in tension.
Tension
22 stitches and 30 rows to 10 cm in stocking stitch on 4 mm needles.
Needles and notions
3.5 mm and 4 mm needles; 3.75 mm is also used for the first two sizes; 6 stitch holders and 8 stitch markers. Use circular needles if choosing the circular hat method.

No. The vest and hat have separate metre allowances. Add the chosen hat quantity to the vest quantity for a set.
