Construction
Each washcloth is worked flat; knit and purl textures create the different designs.
Yarn choices
Use 8ply cotton, worked with one strand. Check the care instructions on your chosen yarn, particularly if the washcloths will be washed frequently.
Yarn and sizing
Allow approximately 100 m of 8ply cotton for two washcloths from the included designs. A fixed finished measurement and numerical tension are not stated in the original pattern; size depends on your yarn and tension.
Metre allowances are approximate. Where the original gives purchasing quantities rather than used metres, these have been converted using its stated yarn length. Swatch, wash and block before starting; allow extra for length changes and differences in tension.
Tension
No numerical tension is specified. Swatch to check the feel and absorbency of the fabric.
Needles and notions
4 mm needles and a wool needle for weaving in ends.
Before you begin
The seed-stitch and textured designs use knit and purl stitches. The lace design adds yarn overs and decreases.
