Bunny Blanket & Crochet Bunny Toy Pattern – K3071
A striped ripple blanket and a dressed crochet bunny make up this Naturally pattern. The blanket is knitted flat in a two-row garter-based pattern, while the bunny, shoes, dress and flower are crocheted separately and assembled.
Finished measurements
- Blanket: approximately 70 × 80 cm.
- Bunny: approximately 27 cm.
Wild & Woolly clarification: keep the blanket size shown in the measurement table and cast off at 80 cm from the cast-on edge. This replaces the conflicting 90 cm instruction. The original PDF has not been amended.
Yarn requirements
Use New Zealand Merino Prints DK/8ply for the main colour and New Zealand Merino 8ply for the contrast colour, both worked with a single strand. Both yarns provide 138 m per 50 g. The samples use main colour 1353 and contrast colour 2020.
These are the PDF's approximate allowances, retained for the confirmed blanket size. The bunny allowance includes its clothing and accessories.
| Project | Main colour (m) | Contrast colour (m) | Total (m) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Blanket, 70 × 80 cm | 690 | 276 | 966 |
| Bunny, approx. 27 cm | 138 | 276 | 414 |
| Both projects | 828 | 552 | 1,380 |
Tension
Blanket: 20 stitches and 42 rows over 10 cm in garter stitch on 4.5 mm needles. Wash and dry a swatch before measuring, and adjust needle size to achieve the pattern tension.
Bunny: the PDF specifies a tight tension rather than a numerical gauge. Check that the crochet fabric is firm enough to contain the stuffing.
Needles and notions
- 4.5 mm circular knitting needles with an 80 cm cord for the blanket, worked back and forth.
- 3 mm crochet hook for the bunny and accessories.
- Toy polyfill, 2 buttons for the bunny's eyes and a tapestry needle.
- A small amount of black thread for facial embroidery.
- A stitch marker to track the crochet rounds.
Skills and preparation
Suggested skill level: intermediate. The blanket uses a two-row repeat with increases, decreases, slipped stitches and colour changes. The bunny uses British crochet terminology, working into a magic ring, double crochet, shaping, stuffing, embroidery and assembly. Both knitting and crochet skills are needed to make the complete set.

Frequently asked questions
Is the bunny knitted?
No. The blanket is knitted, but the bunny and its accessories are crocheted using British crochet terms.
Can I make just one project?
Yes. Separate yarn allowances are shown for the blanket and bunny. Use the combined row only if making both.
Does the blanket require circular knitting?
No. It is worked flat; the circular needle holds the width of the blanket.
