Baby Blanket Knitting Pattern – K400

Knit a generous baby blanket with broad ribs, cables and two-colour stripes. Its textured fabric and neat borders make a lovely keepsake for a new arrival.

Pattern Format: 📥📬 Available as Digital Download or Printed Copy (choose option below). This is a Naturally knitting pattern; yarn, needles and the finished item are not included.

Construction and Skill Guidance

Worked flat in one piece, with the borders included as you knit. The cable and wide-rib fabric needs gentle blocking to achieve the photographed appearance and stated width.

Suggested skill level: Intermediate. You’ll use knit and purl texture, cable crossings, colour changes and blocking.

Sizing and Measurements

Finished measurements are approximate and apply after blocking.

Measurement One size
Width after blocking (cm) 75
Length after blocking (cm) 100

Yarn Requirements

The original yarn is Lammermoor Organic DK/8ply, approximately 119 m per 50 g. Keep the two colour allowances separate.

Colour Yarn allowance (m)
A — sample #80 595
B — sample #81 595
Total 1190

Work with a single strand. Metreages are approximate yarn allowances converted from the original pattern quantities, rather than measured consumption. Allow extra for swatching or changes in size. Check a washed and dried swatch before starting.

You’ll Need

  • 3.75mm and 4mm straight needles
  • Cable needle
  • Yarn needle for weaving in ends and blocking pins

Tension

22 stitches and 30 rows to 10cm in stocking stitch on 4mm needles. The finished blanket is worked in wide rib and cables, rather than stocking stitch.
