A baby sweater with a fold-over collar, buttoned front neck opening and matching hat. Choose the separate 4ply or DK/8ply instructions for four sizes from newborn to 18 months. Pieces are knitted flat and seamed, with knit-and-purl texture details.

Yarn Requirements
The pattern names Baby Haven or Classic Prints for 4ply, and Classic or Classic Prints for DK/8ply. The 4ply table uses Baby Haven, now sold as New Zealand Merino 4ply (178m per 50g); the DK table uses Classic DK (138m per 50g). Choose one weight and follow its instructions.

Use a single strand. Metreages are approximate allowances converted from the pattern’s stated quantities, rather than measured consumption. Allow extra for swatching or length changes and check a washed swatch against the stated tension.

Tension
4ply: 28 stitches and 36 rows to 10cm in stocking stitch on 3.25mm needles. DK/8ply: 22 stitches and 30 rows to 10cm in stocking stitch on 4mm needles.
