Knit a cosy hooded sweater for children, teenagers or adults with this versatile Naturally pattern. Instructions are provided for both DK/8 ply and Chunky/14 ply yarn, letting you create either a lighter everyday layer or a warm, substantial winter sweater.
Features
- Classic unisex hooded sweater
- Choice of DK/8 ply or Chunky/14 ply yarn
- Stocking-stitch lower body and sleeves
- Textured garter-stitch yoke and hood
- Split front neckline with two-button fastening
- Relaxed drop-shoulder shape
- Seven sizes to fit chest measurements from 56 cm to 122 cm
Construction Overview
The back, front and sleeves are worked flat from the bottom up, then seamed. The front divides to form an overlapping garter-stitch placket with two buttonholes. After the shoulder seams are joined, the hood is worked from the held front and back neck stitches, shaped at the crown and joined with grafting or a three-needle cast-off. The straight sleeve tops are sewn into the drop-shoulder openings before the side and sleeve seams are completed.
Skill Level
Intermediate — suited to knitters comfortable with garment shaping, buttonholes, working from held stitches, seaming and either grafting or a three-needle cast-off.
