Sweater & Hat with Contrast Edges Knitting Pattern – K3020
A baby and children’s sweater with a matching hat, combining stocking stitch, moss stitch texture and contrasting rolled edges. Naturally K3020 includes six sizes from newborn to approximately four years.
Construction and skill guidance
The sweater’s back, front and sleeves are knitted flat and seamed. The neckband and contrast rolled neck edge are picked up and worked in the round. The hat is knitted flat with a shaped crown and a back seam.
Suggested skill level: Intermediate. You’ll work knit-and-purl texture, increases and decreases, neck shaping, picking up stitches, a small circumference in the round and seaming.

Frequently asked questions
Can I knit the whole set on straight needles?
The sweater pieces and hat are worked flat, but the sweater’s neckband and rolled neck edge are worked in the round. Use double-pointed needles or magic loop for these sections.
Are the contrast edges worked in moss stitch?
The contrast edges roll naturally from stocking stitch. The moss stitch sections are worked in the main colour, giving a different texture beside the contrast trim.
