Raglan Summer Jumper Knitting Pattern – K3028
A three-colour cotton jumper for children aged approximately three to seven years. Broad colour blocks, ribbed trims and a raglan yoke make this a useful layer for cooler summer days.
Construction and skill guidance
The back, front and sleeves are knitted flat from the lower edges, then joined on a circular needle to work the raglan yoke in the round. The neck is finished with ribbing, and the side and underarm seams are sewn.
Suggested skill level: Intermediate. You’ll use ribbing, increases and decreases, colour changes, holding stitches, joining pieces to work in the round and seaming.

Ages are approximate. Choose by chest measurement and check the finished chest against a jumper that fits.

Yarn requirements
Use Sesia Bio Sunny DK/8ply cotton, the original recommended yarn, worked with a single strand in three colours. The supplier’s stated length is 125 m per 50 g.

These are approximate purchasing allowances converted from the original pattern quantities, rather than measured consumption. Keep the three colours separate when planning your purchase. Allow extra for swatching or length changes.
The sample uses shades 1835, 71 and 51 for colours A, B and C respectively. Choose your own three-colour combination from the current yarn range.
Tension
22 stitches and 28 rows to 10 cm in stocking stitch on 4 mm needles. This is the pattern’s tension, which differs from the yarn’s general ball-band guidance. Wash and block a swatch and check both stitch and row tension before starting.

- 3.25 mm and 4 mm circular needles with a 60 cm cord
- Double-pointed needles may be needed as the yoke circumference becomes smaller
