Gauge, needles and accessories
Gauge: 17 stitches × 26 rows in stocking stitch on 4.5 mm needles = 10 × 10 cm. Wash and block a swatch before starting, and adjust needle size to achieve the pattern gauge.
Needles: 4.5 mm circular needles (40, 60 and 80 cm); 4.5 mm double-pointed needles.
Wild & Woolly yarn options
Choose one of these shop-approved single-strand alternatives:
- Chaska Alpaca Air 12ply — brushed baby alpaca and acrylic.
- New Zealand Merino 12ply — merino wool.
- Inca Spun Alpaca Wool Mix Worsted — alpaca and wool.
Use one strand of your chosen yarn on its own, without a mohair companion. These replace the designer’s held-together combination and will create different fabrics. Wash and block a swatch and match 17 stitches × 26 rows per 10 cm, adjusting needle size as needed. Check that the resulting fabric has the drape and feel you want.
