Size and fit
Approximately 15 cm of positive ease. Choose width by measured chest; age is a guide and lengths can be adjusted.

Gauge, needles and materials
Gauge: 21 stitches × 28 rows in stocking stitch on 4 mm needles = 10 × 10 cm.
Needles: 4 mm circulars: 40 and 60 or 80 cm; 3 mm circular: 40 cm; 4 mm double-pointed needles.

Frequently asked questions
Should I select an age size or a chest size?
Measure the child’s chest first. A 56 cm chest suits the 3–4 years size, which finishes at 71 cm and gives 15 cm of ease.
Can I use the adult Hanstholm pattern for a child?
This Junior booklet has its own 1–14 years size range and children’s proportions. The adult pattern is sold separately.
