An 8ply vest with a relaxed neckline and deep armholes. Choose lace panels with vertical lines, or vertical lines alone.

Construction
The front and back are worked flat, then joined, with neckband and armhole finishing.
Yarn choices
Use DK/8ply yarn, worked with a single strand. Touch Yarns NZ Merino 8ply is a stocked 8ply option to swatch at the pattern tension. Match the metre allowance rather than copying quantities between yarn ranges.

Fit
The designer recommends 5–10 cm of positive ease. Choose from the finished chest measurements; age is approximate.
Metre allowances are approximate. Where the original gives purchasing quantities rather than used metres, these have been converted using its stated yarn length. Swatch, wash and block before starting; allow extra for length changes and differences in tension.
Tension
22 stitches and 30 rows to 10 cm in stocking stitch on 4 mm needles.
Needles and notions
3.5 mm and 4 mm needles; 3.75 mm for the neckband on the first three sizes, or as needed for a tight knitter; 6 stitch holders and 8 stitch markers.
Before you begin
Skills include knit and purl stitches, shaping, picking up stitches and seaming. The lace version also uses lace increases and decreases.

Can I leave out the lace?
Yes. The second design option keeps the vertical lines without the lace panels.
