Construction and skills
The designer describes this as a beginner project. You will use a cable cast-on, knit stitches, knit-two-together decreases and simple finishing. The scarf is worked flat, with decreases shaping the edges. Tassels are optional.
Sizes and yarn requirements
| Size | Point-to-point width (cm) | Length (cm) | Yarn (m) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small | 170 | 40 | 210 |
| Large | 204 | 48 | 210 |
Measurements exclude tassels. The pattern specifies the same yarn allowance for either size. The metre allowance above is converted using Touch Yarns' current specification for the original 12ply Kid Mohair Merino yarn; it is an approximate purchasing allowance, rather than measured consumption.
Yarn choice
The original yarn is Touch Yarns 12ply Kid Mohair Merino, a brushed blend with a light, airy fabric. This yarn is not currently listed in our range. If you would like help choosing a stocked alternative, contact Wild & Woolly before buying yarn. A different fibre blend or yarn structure can change the drape and the amount needed.
Needles and tension
- 12 mm knitting needles.
- The pattern gives an approximate tension of 8 stitches and 8 rows over 10 cm.
Make a swatch before starting to check the fabric and tension, especially when changing yarn. Allow extra yarn if you alter the dimensions or add more tassels.
