Baby Singlets Knitting Pattern — Naturally K642
Two useful 4ply baby singlets in one pattern, designed by Gitta Schrade. Singlet I has a stocking-stitch body and overlapping shoulders; Singlet II is worked in garter stitch with a snap-fastened shoulder opening.
Construction and skill guidance
Both designs are knitted flat in separate front and back pieces, with shaped necklines, picked-up ribbed edges and side seams. Singlet II includes small sleeve extensions and three snap fasteners at the left shoulder.
Confident beginner to intermediate — increases, decreases, shaping, picking up stitches and seaming.

Gauge
28 stitches and 36 rows to 10 cm over stocking stitch using 3.25 mm needles. The leaflet states stocking-stitch gauge even though Singlet II is worked in garter stitch.
Check a washed and blocked swatch before beginning, adjust needle size to match both stitch and row gauge, and check the fabric suits your project. Replacement yarn allowances are estimates, not a guarantee of identical fabric or consumption.
Needles and notions
- 2.75 mm and 3.25 mm straight needles
- Stitch holders, markers and a yarn needle
