Anker’s Summer Shirt Knit Kit in Sandnes Garn Line
A summer top with a softly textured ribbed yoke and simple stocking-stitch body. This PetiteKnit design is knitted from the top down in one strand of Sandnes Garn Line, a blend of 53% cotton, 33% viscose and 14% linen.
What your kit includes
- Sandnes Garn Line in your chosen shade, with the quantity for one shirt in your selected size.
- One original Anker’s Summer Shirt printed knitting pattern by PetiteKnit, in English.
Needles and notions are purchased separately. This kit includes a printed pattern; no digital pattern is supplied.
Sizes and fit
Choose your size using your bust measurement and the finished measurements below. The design allows approximately 0–5 cm of positive ease. Combined size options supply enough yarn for one shirt in any one of the listed sizes; follow your chosen size in the pattern.
| Size | To fit bust cm | Finished bust cm | Length cm | Line supplied m |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| XS | 80–85 | 85 | 52 | 550 |
| S | 85–90 | 91 | 54 | 660 |
| M | 90–95 | 96 | 56 | 660 |
| L | 95–100 | 100 | 60 | 880 |
| XL | 100–110 | 110 | 62 | 880 |
| 2XL | 110–120 | 120 | 62 | 990 |
| 3XL | 120–130 | 130 | 64 | 1100 |
| 4XL | 130–140 | 140 | 66 | 1100 |
| 5XL | 140–150 | 153 | 68 | 1100 |
The kit uses the upper designer allowance for L (880 m) and 3XL (1,100 m). S / M, L / XL and 3XL / 4XL / 5XL share kit options because their supplied contents are identical. Extra length or changes to gauge may require additional yarn.
Construction and skill level
Intermediate. Work the ribbed circular yoke with increases, then raglan shaping in stocking stitch. Separate the sleeves and work the body and sleeves in the round. Techniques include knit and purl, yarn-over increases worked through the back loop, left- and right-leaning increases, casting on underarm stitches, picking up stitches and paired sleeve decreases. Finish by weaving in ends.
Tension and needles
20 stitches × 28 rows = 10 × 10 cm in stocking stitch on 4 mm needles after washing and blocking. Make and wash a swatch before beginning; adjust your needle size to achieve the pattern tension.
You will need 4 mm circular needles in 40, 60, 80 and/or 100 cm lengths, and 3.5 mm circular needles in 80 or 100 cm. For the sleeves, use 4 mm and 3.5 mm double-pointed needles or suitable circular needles for Magic Loop. You will also need stitch markers, stitch holders or spare yarn, a tapestry needle and a measuring tape. Optional thin elastic thread can help the neck edge retain its shape. These items are not included.
Care
Follow the Line ball-band care instructions. Wash the finished garment separately, support it while wet and dry flat. Check the washed swatch before starting the garment.
Frequently asked questions
Do I hold Line double?
No. Anker’s Summer Shirt uses one strand of Sandnes Garn Line throughout.
Why are some sizes grouped together?
Those options contain the same yarn quantity and printed pattern. Each kit makes one shirt; use the individual size instructions and finished measurements for your chosen fit.
Is this Anker Tee?
This kit is for Anker’s Summer Shirt, with a ribbed circular yoke and raglan shaping. It is a different design from Anker Tee.
Is this suitable for my first garment?
It suits knitters comfortable working in the round who are ready for yoke increases and raglan shaping. Check the listed techniques before choosing this project.
Are needles or a digital pattern included?
No. You receive the Line yarn and one printed English pattern. Needles and notions are purchased separately.
