Fern Mitts Knitting Pattern - 8Ply
Skill Level: Intermediate
Worn with the fern leaf design on the top of mitt or to the side - Instructions given for both options
Circumference: 18cm to fit palm size up to 23cm including thumb
Length: Short - 19.5cm [7.3/4”] Long - 23cm [9”]
Needles: 3.50mm US[4]
Yarn Required : Short - 1x 50g 100m[109yrds] ball Long - 2x 50g 100m[109yrds] balls OR 125m
Approximate tension: 30 rows & 23sts in stocking stitch per 10cm or 4”
Other requirements: 2 stitch markers
Note: If you prefer a larger looser fitting mitt, use 3.75mm US[5] needles.
This will increase the circumference to 19cm (to fit palm size up to 25cm including thumb) & the length to: Short 21.5cm , Long 25cm. Depending on the actual thickness of yarn used. Best to have a bit more on hand, particularly is knitting the long mitts.
Tension approx: 28rows & 21st per 10cm or 4”
