Matinee Jacket, Hat & Booties Knitting Pattern – K3078
A six-row lace pattern brings delicate detail to this three-piece baby set. Naturally K3078 includes a raglan matinee jacket with three buttons, a matching rib-brimmed hat and booties with lace fold-over tops, all worked in Opal Aquarell 4ply. The samples use shades 11534 and 11535.

Construction and skills
The jacket is knitted flat from the bottom up in separate back, front and sleeve pieces. Raglan, side and sleeve seams are sewn, then the neckband is worked from held and picked-up stitches. The hat is knitted flat and seamed at the back. Booties are worked flat with shaped soles and insteps, then sewn and folded down at the top.
Suggested skill level: intermediate. Techniques include written lace repeats, yarn overs, centred decreases, raglan shaping, buttonholes, holding stitches, picking up stitches and seaming.
Sizes and finished measurements
Choose by chest measurement. The PDF gives three sizes without assigning ages. All measurements below refer to the jacket and are in centimetres.

The hat and booties have three corresponding instruction sizes. Finished hat and foot measurements are not provided.
Yarn requirements
Use Opal Aquarell 4ply, worked with one strand. Approximate allowances below cover the jacket, hat and booties together, calculated at 425 m per 100 g.

Tension
28 stitches and 36 rows over 10 cm in stocking stitch on 3.25 mm needles. Wash and dry a swatch before measuring, and adjust needle size to achieve the pattern tension.
Needles and notions
- 2.75 mm and 3.25 mm straight knitting needles.
- 3 buttons for the jacket.
- Stitch holders and a tapestry needle for finishing.
Pattern clarification
Wild & Woolly clarification: use back-neck counts of 18, 22 and 26 stitches for the three sizes, matching the back shaping. The resulting neckband totals are 62, 68 and 78 stitches. These replace the conflicting back-neck counts and totals in the neckband section. The original PDF has not been amended.
