Millie Cardigan Knitting Pattern – 8ply
A baby and children's cardigan with a lace-edged hem and cuffs, garter-stitch upper body and a two-button fastening. This Kiwi Stitch & Knit Co pattern includes four sizes, from approximately 0–3 months to 2–4 years.

Construction and skills
The lower body is worked flat in one piece to the armholes, then divided for the fronts and back. The sleeves are knitted separately and sewn in, and the shoulders are joined with a three-needle cast-off. There is no separate neckband.
This is an intermediate project. Skills include knit and purl stitches, lace increases and decreases, shaping, holding stitches, buttonholes, a three-needle cast-off and seaming.

Ages are approximate. Choose using the finished chest measurement, allowing room over the child's chest for a comfortable fit. The yarn figures are purchasing allowances converted from the updated pattern's specified 8ply yarn at 100 m per sale unit, rather than measured consumption.
Yarn options
The existing shop recommendation is Sesia Nordica Italian Merino 8ply. Its labelled tension differs from this pattern's tension, so make a washed and blocked swatch and check that you can achieve 22 stitches over 10 cm with a fabric you like. The metre allowances above come from the pattern yarn; quantities for a substitute are estimates and may vary. Ask us for help if your swatch does not match.

No. The body is worked flat in one piece to the armholes, with the fronts and back completed separately above them.
