The Petra Jacket is a relaxed women’s jacket worked from the top down with a roomy silhouette, long ribbed collar and polished double-knitted front bands. Its clean stocking-stitch fabric and structured finishing make it an easy-to-layer wardrobe piece.
Description and construction
The back yoke is worked flat with increases before stitches are picked up for the shoulders. The upper body is joined on one circular needle and shaped first with sleeve increases and then raglan increases. The body is worked back and forth, while the sleeves are worked in the round. Double-knitted front plackets, five buttonholes and a deep ribbed collar complete the jacket.

Choose the size intended for your actual bust or widest upper-body measurement. The jacket is designed with approximately 22 cm positive ease. Length is measured at the centre back, excluding the neck edge.
Gauge and needles
Gauge: 18 stitches × 26 rows = 10 × 10 cm in stocking stitch on 4 mm needles after washing and blocking.

Sandnes Garn Double Sunday or Peer Gynt – one strand
Sandnes Garn Double Sunday is a soft, non-superwash merino choice with the same 108 metres per 50 g as the Atlas option. Sandnes Garn Peer Gynt offers a firmer, more traditional wool fabric with excellent structure. Use the Atlas metre table above for either option and purchase enough complete balls to meet or exceed the stated metreage.

Metre requirements are converted from PetiteKnit’s stated quantities. Match the 18-stitch gauge and choose a yarn that creates a stable yet comfortable jacket fabric. Always wash and dry a generous swatch before beginning, and allow extra yarn for swatching, fit or length changes and gauge variation.
