Petra Polo

The Petra Polo is a classic polo-style sweater worked seamlessly from the top down. The design features a structured collar, double knitted front plackets, and the option of either short or long sleeves. The polo closes with three buttons and is finished with a tightly knitted rib collar for a polished look.

The back yoke is worked first with increases. Stitches for the shoulders are then picked up and knitted along the back yoke before additional stitches are picked up along the shoulder edges so the full yoke can be worked flat on the circular needle. The yoke is shaped with sleeve increases followed by raglan increases before the body is joined and worked in the round.

The front plackets are worked in double knitting. Sleeves are worked in the round using either double-pointed needles or the Magic Loop technique and can be made either short or long depending on preference.

The Petra Polo is designed to have approx. 2 cm of positive ease, meaning the finished garment is intended to measure approximately 2 cm larger than your actual bust circumference.

Before beginning your project, knit a swatch to determine which needle size gives you the correct gauge. Make sure to wash your swatch before measuring gauge.

Circular needles: 3 mm / 60, 80 and/or 100 cm and 2 mm / 40, 60, 80 and/or 100 cm

Double-pointed needles: 3 mm and 2 mm unless using the Magic Loop technique

Gauge

24 sts x 38 rows = 10 x 10 cm in stockinette stitch on 3 mm needles

Construction

Worked seamlessly from the top down with shaped back yoke and shoulders. The yoke is worked flat with increases before the body is joined in the round. Double knitted front plackets and a tightly knitted rib collar complete the garment.
