Uma Scarf — PetiteKnit knitting pattern
A soft triangular scarf worked from the centre outwards, with increases on right-side rows. A contrasting edge finishes two sides. Choose one of three sizes, or adjust the size by varying the increase section as described in the pattern.

Gauge, needles and skill
Before washing and blocking: 25 stitches × 37 rows = 10 × 10 cm in stocking stitch on 3 mm needles.
After washing and blocking: 21 stitches × 39 rows = 10 × 10 cm in stocking stitch on 3 mm needles.
Needles: 3 mm circular needle, 60 or 80 cm long. Adjust needle size as needed to match gauge.
Designer difficulty: 2 out of 5. You will work knit and purl stitches, increases and a contrasting edge.

Sandnes Garn Cashmere, used single stranded. Choose a main colour and a contrasting edge colour; buy each separately.

Converted from the designer’s quantities at 110 m per 25 g. The approximate contrast allowance is rounded up to whole metres; it is additional to the main colour. These are separate colours, not two strands held together.
Wash and block your swatch before choosing the final needle size. Round up to complete sale units and allow extra for swatching or changes in size.
Frequently asked questions
Why are two gauge measurements listed?
Cashmere changes after washing and blocking. The designer lists 25 stitches × 37 rows before washing and 21 stitches × 39 rows afterwards, both over 10 cm in stocking stitch on 3 mm needles. Use a washed, blocked swatch to assess the finished fabric.
Is the contrast edge included in the main-colour metres?
No. Allow 220, 330 or 550 m for the main colour, according to size, plus approximately 14–22 m of a contrasting Cashmere colour for the edge. Both colours are worked single stranded.
Can I adjust Uma to use a different amount of yarn?
Yes. The pattern allows you to vary the number of increases to make a smaller or larger scarf. The finished measurements will change; reserve enough contrast yarn for the edge and allow for swatching.
