Rolled Edges Baby & Toddler Sweater – Naturally K3023

A relaxed stocking-stitch sweater with softly rolled hems and cuffs, finished with a short ribbed neck edge. Self-patterning yarn brings colour to the simple fabric without colourwork.

Construction and pattern facts

Knit the back, front and sleeves separately in rows from the bottom up. Join one shoulder, pick up the neck edge and work it flat, then close the other shoulder and neckband. Sew in the sleeves and close the side and sleeve seams.

Designer: Naturally. Yarn weight: DK / 8ply. Work with one strand throughout.

Yarn requirements

The original yarn is Opal Wintersonne DK / 8ply, available while our remaining stock lasts. Metres below are converted from the leaflet using the verified 320 m per 150 g. Allowances are approximate.

Gauge

22 stitches × 30 rows = 10 × 10 cm in stocking stitch on 4.00 mm needles. Check a washed and blocked swatch before starting and adjust needle size if needed to match the pattern gauge.

Needles and notions

4.00 mm needles for the body and main sleeve fabric; 3.75 mm needles for the beginning of the sleeves and the picked-up neck edge, following the actual instructions.

Stitch holders, stitch markers and a tapestry needle.

Skill guidance

Confident beginner to intermediate: stocking stitch, sleeve increases, shaping a neckline, picking up stitches, ribbing and seaming.

Frequently asked questions

Should I flatten the rolled edges when measuring?

No. The instructions say to measure with the bottom and cuff edges rolled naturally.

Is the neckband worked in the round?

No. It is worked flat after joining one shoulder; the other shoulder and neck edge are then sewn.
