Recommended yarn available at Wild & Woolly
Designer-recommended option: Sandnes Garn Cashmere, worked with one strand. Choose either this option or the Sunday alternative below. Check colour availability on the linked yarn pages.
Cashmere: one strand
| Size | Cashmere |
|---|---|
| XS | 990 m |
| S | 1,100 m |
| M | 1,210 m |
| L | 1,320 m |
| XL | 1,430 m |
| 2XL | 1,540 m |
| 3XL | 1,650 m |
Metres are converted from PetiteKnit’s stated quantities.
Wild & Woolly alternative: Sunday 4ply
For a non-superwash merino alternative, use Sandnes Garn Sunday with one strand throughout. This is a shop substitution rather than a designer-specified yarn. Check that your washed or blocked swatch achieves 24 stitches and 34 rows per 10 cm and a fabric you like; adjust needle size if needed.
| Size | Sunday 4ply (estimated metres) |
|---|---|
| XS | 990 m |
| S | 1,100 m |
| M | 1,210 m |
| L | 1,320 m |
| XL | 1,430 m |
| 2XL | 1,540 m |
| 3XL | 1,650 m |
The Sunday estimate uses the same metre allowance as PetiteKnit’s Cashmere option, not the same weight. Sunday provides 235 m per ball. These are estimated purchasing allowances, not designer-confirmed Sunday consumption; buy complete balls and allow extra for swatching or changes to length and fit.
Before you begin
Make a washed or blocked swatch and check both gauge and fabric before starting. Buy complete balls, allowing extra yarn for swatching, changes to length or fit, and differences in gauge. The metre figures are based on the designer’s quantities, rather than exact measured consumption.
Frequently asked questions
Can I knit Anker’s Cardigan with Sunday?
Yes. Sandnes Garn Sunday is our approved single-strand alternative to Cashmere. Its table is an equivalent-metre estimate; check a washed swatch for the cardigan’s 24-stitch gauge and a fabric you like.
Are the cardigan’s front bands added afterwards?
No. The ribbed front edges are worked with the yoke and body. The sleeves are worked in the round, using double-pointed needles or Magic Loop.
