Baby Bunny Blanket & Bunny Toy Knit Kit
Knit a chevron baby blanket and crochet its matching dressed bunny with Naturally pattern K3071. The printed merino colours form broad stripes in the blanket; the bunny adds a dress, shoes and flower.
What your kit includes
- 6 × 50 g balls New Zealand Merino Prints DK/8ply in the selected main colour (828 metres)
- 4 × 50 g balls New Zealand Merino DK/8ply in the coordinating contrast colour (552 metres)
- Printed Naturally K3071 knitting and crochet pattern
The kit supplies yarn for both the blanket and bunny. Knitting needle, crochet hook, filling, buttons, tapestry needle and embroidery thread are separate.
Yarn plan
| Project | Print main colour | Solid contrast colour |
|---|---|---|
| Blanket | 690 m (5 balls) | 276 m (2 balls) |
| Bunny | 138 m (1 ball) | 276 m (2 balls) |
| Complete kit | 828 m (6 balls) | 552 m (4 balls) |
Both yarns are 100% merino DK/8ply, approximately 138 metres per 50 g ball. Work one strand of each colour as directed.
Size, tension and tools
The pattern lists an approximate blanket size of 70 × 80 cm and a bunny height of about 27 cm. Blanket tension is 20 stitches and 42 rows to 10 × 10 cm in garter stitch on a 4.5 mm needle. Use a 4.5 mm circular needle with an 80 cm cord for the blanket and a 3 mm crochet hook for the bunny; crochet firmly so the filling stays inside. The bunny instructions use British crochet terms.
The blanket is knitted flat with a two-row chevron repeat and colour bands. The bunny is crocheted in pieces, stuffed and assembled. You will need toy filling, two buttons for eyes, black embroidery thread and a tapestry needle. Buttons are small parts; take care if the finished toy is intended for a baby.
Pattern measurement check: K3071 lists the blanket as approximately 70 × 80 cm, but the blanket instructions say to cast off when it measures 90 cm from the cast-on edge. Check the intended length before finishing; the pattern publisher should clarify the difference.
Follow the yarn labels for washing and dry flat in the shade.
