Baby Chino Jumper & Hat – Naturally K3004
A cheerful 4ply set for little ones, with contrasting front and back panels, striped sleeves and a matching hat. Corrugated rib adds a lovely two-colour detail at the hems and hat brim.
Construction and pattern facts
The jumper front and back are knitted flat from the bottom up, with shoulders joined using a three-needle cast-off. Sleeves are picked up at the shoulders and knitted downwards in rows, then the side and sleeve seams are sewn. The neckband and matching hat are worked in the round. Use one strand of yarn at a time for plain sections and stripes; carry two colours separately for the corrugated rib, without holding them together.

Yarn requirements
Use Sesia Mistral 4ply, the original recommended yarn, in three colours. The leaflet gives one shared yarn allowance for the jumper and hat, rather than separate amounts for each project. Metres below are converted using 175 m per 50 g; quantities are approximate.

Gauge
28 stitches × 40 rows over stocking stitch on 3.25 mm needles = 10 × 10 cm. Wash and block your swatch before checking both stitch and row tension.
Needles and notions
- 3.00 mm and 3.25 mm needles for the jumper.
- 3.00 mm and 3.25 mm double-pointed needles for the neckband and hat.
- A spare needle for the three-needle shoulder cast-off.
- Two stitch holders, waste thread for marking sleeve positions and a tapestry needle.
