Baby Envelope Neck Top & Beanie Knit Kit
Baby Envelope Neck Top & Beanie Knit Kit
Make a lightweight baby top with an easy envelope neckline and a matching beanie from Crucci pattern 2416. Choose long sleeves, short sleeves or no sleeves for the top. The beanie can be finished with optional contrast-colour ears.
Skill level and techniques
Intermediate. The top involves shaping a neckline and sleeve options; the beanie is knitted in the round using double-pointed needles or magic loop.
What your kit includes
- Crucci Baby Love 3ply in your selected main shade: three 50 g balls for 3–12 months or four for 18 months
- One 50 g ball of White (1960) for the contrast-colour ear details
- Printed CRU2416 pattern and Handmade with Love leather tag
Each ball has approximately 223 metres. The kit supplies enough main-colour yarn for the long-sleeved top and beanie together at the selected size. Short-sleeved and sleeveless tops use less main yarn. One top and one beanie are intended; choose one sleeve style. Knitting needles and other tools are separate.
Size and yarn plan

| 6 months | 45 cm | 49 cm | 25 cm | 669 m | 223 m |

| 18 months | 52.5 cm | 57 cm | 34 cm | 892 m | 223 m |
The shared 6 / 9 / 12 month variant supplies one top and one beanie; follow your selected size in the pattern. The beanie fits an approximate head circumference of 40, 45, 48, 50 or 52 cm across the five sizes.
Yarn, tension and tools
Baby Love is 100% merino 3ply, approximately 223 metres per 50 g ball. Work one strand. Pattern tension is 32 stitches and 40 rows to 10 × 10 cm in stocking stitch on 3 mm needles.
The top uses 2.75 mm and 3 mm straight, circular or double-pointed needles as specified in the pattern. The beanie uses 2.25 mm and 3 mm double-pointed needles, or a suitable longer circular needle using magic loop. A stitch marker and yarn needle are also needed; tools are not included.
Work the body of the top in one piece to the armholes, then shape the neckline and finish the chosen sleeves. Knit the beanie in the round and sew on the optional ears. Follow the yarn label for washing and reshape without pressing.

Frequently asked questions
Does the kit include yarn for the top and hat?
Yes. It supplies yarn for one top and one beanie, using the long-sleeve top as the main-yarn allowance.
Can I make a sleeveless top instead?
Yes. The same pattern includes long-sleeved, short-sleeved and sleeveless options; shorter sleeve styles use less yarn.
What is the white yarn for?
A separate 223-metre ball of white is supplied for optional contrasting ear details on the beanie.
Is the beanie worked flat?
No. The beanie is knitted in the round using double-pointed needles or magic loop.
Are needles included?
No. The pattern needs several needle types and sizes, including 2.25 mm and 3 mm needles for the hat. Check the tool list before starting.
