Baby Jacket & Hat Knit Kit
Baby Jacket & Hat Knit Kit
Knit a button-front baby jacket and matching hat from Naturally pattern K3065 in New Zealand Merino Prints DK/8ply. The jacket combines stocking stitch with a moss-stitch ladder detail and is worked in one piece to the underarms before shaping the fronts and back.
Skill level and techniques
Intermediate. This baby jacket combines textured moss stitch with garment shaping, separately knitted sleeves, buttonholes and finishing; the matching hat is knitted flat and seamed.
What your kit includes
- Two, three or five 50 g balls of New Zealand Merino Prints DK/8ply in the selected shade and size quantity
- Printed Naturally K3065 jacket and hat pattern
- Three 15 mm Handmade with Love wooden buttons
Needles, stitch holders, tapestry needle and stitch markers are separate. The product photo shows sample colours; your chosen variant supplies one printed shade.

Yarn and tension
New Zealand Merino Prints DK/8ply is 100% merino, with approximately 138 metres per 50 g ball. Work one strand. The pattern tension is 22 stitches and 30 rows to 10 × 10 cm in stocking stitch on 4 mm needles. Check tension before starting.
Needles and finishing
You will need 3.75 mm and 4 mm knitting needles, stitch holders and a tapestry needle. Work the jacket fronts and back from one lower section; knit the sleeves separately, then finish the neckline and sew on the three included buttons. Work the hat flat, shape the crown and join its back seam.
Follow the yarn label for a mild machine wash, then dry flat in the shade.
Who is this project for?
A matching little jacket and hat makes a special new-baby gift. The self-patterning merino does some of the colourwork for you, while the moss-stitch details add texture. This is best for knitters comfortable with basic garment shaping and finishing. Compare New Zealand Merino Prints 8ply and the Naturally K3065 knitting pattern.
Frequently asked questions
Does the kit contain enough yarn for both pieces?
Yes. The selected size's yarn quantity is intended for one jacket and its matching hat.

Both use 414 metres of yarn; follow the separate jacket and hat measurements for your chosen pattern size.
