Striped Baby Overalls Knit Kit
Knit a little pair of striped overalls in soft, machine-washable New Zealand merino. Naturally’s K3008 design has ribbed leg cuffs and buttoned shoulder straps, with three baby sizes in one printed pattern.
Skill level and construction
Intermediate. Work the front and back flat from the leg cuffs upwards, shaping the legs, crotch and bib with increases and decreases. You will also work ribbing, garter stitch, stripes and buttonholes, then sew the leg and side seams.
Materials and kit contents
- 356 metres of Naturally New Zealand Merino 4ply in each of two colours, supplied in full yarn units.
- One printed Striped Overalls knitting pattern K3008.
- Two Handmade wooden buttons.
- With Needles only: one pair each of 2.75 mm and 3.25 mm ChiaoGoo bamboo straight needles, both 33 cm long.
The pattern is also sold separately. Without Needles excludes the knitting needles. A stitch holder, tapestry needle and the additional 3.25 mm needle listed in the pattern are required separately.

All three sizes use the same supplied quantity, so they share one size option. Follow your chosen size in the pattern. Work with one strand at a time, alternating the two colours for the stripes.
Colour choices
Choose Army Green (396) with Olive Green (395), Shortbread (382) with Aqua Lake (387), or Blush (401) with Deep Periwinkle (393).
Tension and needles
28 stitches and 36 rows = 10 cm in stocking stitch on 3.25 mm needles. Use 2.75 mm needles for the ribbed cuffs. Make and wash a swatch before starting; our knitting tension guide explains how.
Yarn and care
New Zealand Merino 4ply is 100% New Zealand merino wool, with approximately 178 metres per yarn unit. It is machine washable; follow the yarn label and dry the finished overalls flat.

Are the overalls knitted in the round?
No. Work the front and back flat, then sew the leg and side seams.
Does one kit make all three sizes?
No. One kit supplies one pair of overalls. The pattern covers newborn, 3 months and 6 months; choose the size by chest measurement.
How much yarn comes in each colour?

What does With Needles include?
