Top Down Jumper for Little Ones – Naturally K3013
A simple 8ply raglan jumper with ribbed edges and stocking-stitch fabric. The top-down construction lets you see the little jumper take shape without assembling separate front and back panels.
Construction and pattern facts
Knitted in the round from the neck down, with raglan increases. Sleeve stitches are held while the body is completed, then each sleeve is worked in the round from the held stitches and underarm pickups. The pattern has no sewn seams. Use one strand of yarn throughout.

22 stitches × 30 rows over stocking stitch on 4.00 mm needles = 10 × 10 cm. Wash and block your swatch before checking tension.
Needles and notions
- 3.50 mm and 4.00 mm needles for knitting in the round, using double-pointed needles or circulars as appropriate to the circumference.
- 60 cm circular needles for the body; choose a suitable longer cord if using magic loop.
- Four stitch markers, waste yarn for the held sleeve stitches and a tapestry needle.
The ribbing instructions use 3.50 mm needles for the neck, hem and cuffs.
Skill guidance
Confident beginner to intermediate: knitting in the round, raglan increases, putting stitches on hold, picking up underarm stitches and sleeve decreases. Keep the neck cast-on comfortably stretchy and read the body-and-sleeve division before starting.
