Tile Stitch Jacket & Cap Knitting Pattern — Naturally K658
A cosy baby jacket and matching peaked cap with a simple knit-and-purl tile texture. Designed by Kay Henry, with a textured lower body, stocking-stitch upper jacket and neat garter-stitch front bands.
Construction and skill guidance
The jacket is knitted flat in separate back, front and sleeve pieces, with shallow armhole shaping, straight sleeve tops, integral front bands and a picked-up ribbed neckband. The cap is knitted flat from the crown down, then finished with a back seam. Intermediate — shaping, buttonholes, picking up stitches and seaming are needed.
Sizes and fit
Choose by chest measurements rather than age alone; age labels are approximate.

Yarn requirements
Naturally New Zealand Merino 4ply, the supplier’s current Baby Haven range, with 178 m per 50 g.
Approximate combined allowances for the jacket and cap, calculated from the original Baby Haven quantities at 178 m per 50 g. Work with one strand except the cap peak, which uses two strands together. The listed metres are the total allowance including both strands for the peak; do not double the table again. The leaflet does not give separate garment allowances or finished cap circumferences.
