Skill level and construction
Intermediate. You will follow a repeating lace pattern with yarn-overs, knit-two-together and double decreases, work ribbing, block the rectangle and sew the underarm seams.
The shrug is knitted flat as a rectangle with ribbed edges and a lace centre. After blocking, the short underarm seams turn it into a wearable layer. Use the full printed pattern for the stitch repeat and finishing.

Before You Start with Iride
The white leader yarn at the ends of an Iride cake is waste yarn. For a centre pull, remove the white leader before starting. If working from the outside, stop before the final white leader section and discard it. Do not knit or crochet the white leader into your project.

Use one strand throughout. The gradient creates the colour changes without joining separate shades.
Your Kit Includes
450 metres of Sesia Iride Cotton 4ply in your selected shade, one printed Summer Evening Shrug pattern N1682, and a printed kit insert. The pattern is also sold separately.
The With Needles option includes one pair each of 3.5 mm and 4 mm ChiaoGoo bamboo straight needles, both 33 cm long; the Without Needles option does not include knitting needles.
Needles and Notions
3.50 mm needles for the rib and 4.00 mm needles for the lace, or sizes needed to match the pattern tension.
A tapestry needle for seaming and weaving in ends is required separately.
Pattern Tension
One lace repeat measures 3.75 cm wide; 24 rows measure 10 cm. Check both measurements in the lace pattern.

Sesia Iride is a 4ply / fingering yarn made in Italy from 100% organic cotton, with 450 metres per cake. Its long gradient creates flowing colour changes. Choose your Iride shade from the kit options; availability depends on stock.

Care
Follow the washing instructions on your yarn label. Reshape gently and dry flat; avoid hanging wet cotton, which can stretch.

No. Knit a rectangle flat, block it to the stated measurements, then sew two underarm seams.
Do I need more yarn for XL?
No. All five sizes use the same supplied 450 metres of Sesia Iride. Follow the instructions for your chosen size.
