Construction and techniques
The sweater is knitted flat in separate pieces from the lower edge, with textured stitchwork, a cable detail and raglan sleeves. A button opening at the left front raglan makes dressing easier. The neckband is picked up and the pieces are seamed. The matching hat is knitted flat with a shaped crown and a back seam.
Gauge
28 stitches and 36 rows to 10 cm in stocking stitch on 3.25 mm needles. Check your tension before starting. The pattern’s garter-stitch sections are worked by purling every row.

Intermediate: textured stitchwork, cables, raglan shaping, picked-up bands and seaming.
Frequently asked questions
Is the set allowance the sum of the separate items?
The pattern supplies its own combined-set allowance. Use the set column rather than adding the separate sweater and hat estimates.
