Matinee Jacket, Hat & Booties – Naturally K3050

A three-piece cotton baby set with a lace matinee jacket, matching hat and turn-down booties. The jacket is knitted flat in separate pieces with raglan shaping, integral front borders and a picked-up neckband. The hat and booties are also worked flat and finished with seams.

Sizes and fit

Choose by chest measurement. The PDF gives three sizes without an age-to-size mapping or separate finished hat and bootie measurements.

Yarn requirements

Use Sesia Bio Sesia 5 organic cotton 4ply, held single. Allowances use 180 metres per 50 g and are approximate.

The sample uses shade 187.

Tension

28 stitches × 36 rows over 10 cm in stocking stitch on 3.25 mm needles. Wash and dry a swatch before measuring, and adjust needle size to achieve the pattern tension.

• 2.75 mm and 3.25 mm straight knitting needles.
• Three buttons and stitch holders.
• A tapestry needle for sewing up.

Skills and preparation

This is an intermediate set using a six-row lace repeat, yarn overs, decreases, raglan shaping, picking up stitches, buttonholes and seaming. The booties include shaped insteps and folded cuffs.
