Make a sweet pair of baby bloomers for layering over nappies. Choose the version with short legs and a waist tie, or the version without leg length with an elasticated waistband.

Construction and Skill Guidance
Worked flat in front and back sections, with crotch and leg shaping, then seamed. The short-leg version has a folded rib waistband with openings for a tie. The version without leg length has picked-up ribbed leg bands and a folded waistband for elastic.
Suggested skill level: Intermediate. You’ll shape the crotch and legs, work ribbing, pick up stitches and finish the waistband.
Sizing and Measurements
The leaflet uses chest measurements as its baby size reference; these are not waist measurements. Ages are approximate, from newborn to 12–18 months.

Yarn Requirements
The original yarn is Sesia Mistral Jacquard 4ply, approximately 175 m per 50 g. The samples use shades #884 and #155. Choose one version from the allowances below.

Work with a single strand. Metreages are approximate yarn allowances converted from the original pattern quantities, rather than measured consumption. Allow extra for swatching or changes in size. Check a washed and dried swatch before starting.
The shop also has Sesia Mistral Baby Print 4ply, a different yarn from Mistral Jacquard. If choosing a different yarn, check the pattern tension and fabric before starting. Self-patterning colours vary with size; work each new ball from the same end for consistency.
You’ll Need
- 2.75mm and 3.25mm needles
- Stitch holder
- Elastic of the required waist length for the version without leg length
- Ribbon, or yarn for a chain-cord or I-cord tie, for the version with leg length
- Yarn needle for seams and waistband finishing

28 stitches and 36 rows to 10cm in stocking stitch on 3.25mm needles.
