Chestnut Dress

The Chestnut Dress is worked from the top down.

First, the back is worked flat while short rows shape the slanted shoulders for a comfortable fit. Each shoulder is then worked separately and joined to form the front yoke. At the underarm, front and back are joined and the body is worked in the round.

Stitches are picked up along the armholes and the sleeves are worked in the round to the cuffs using double-pointed needles or the Magic Loop technique. The large turtleneck collar is worked at the end from stitches picked up along the neckline.

Please work a swatch before beginning to ensure correct gauge.

The dress is designed with approx. 30 cm of positive ease and has an oversized fit.

Yarn Requirements

The dress is worked holding two strands together.

Pelsuld 8/2 from Hjelholts Uldspinderi (100 g = 400 m)

Brushed Lace / Silk Mohair (25 g = approx. 210–212 m)

Length Adjustment

The yarn quantities above are based on a dress length of 130 cm.

For every additional 10 cm in stockinette stitch, approximately the following is required:

Needles

Circular needles:
4 mm (40, 80 and/or 100 cm)
3 mm (40 cm)

Double-pointed needles:
3.5 mm and 4 mm (unless using Magic Loop)

Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.

Gauge

20 stitches × 28 rows = 10 × 10 cm in stockinette stitch after wash and blocking
